Comments: Firstly thank you for responding to my question on dogster, however I was hoping for help, not judgement. (my dog gave birth 2 days ago, she is continuosly curled up in a bundle, cries, shivers and has already layed on 4 pups) This was not her first litter, her whelping box is perfect and she's used it before with no problems, I did take her to the vet and was told she's a bad mother and will kill all the pups. Not wanting to give up on a dog I've loved for years, I posted the question hoping someone might have a more positive answer. Your judgement was not appreciated, all I needed was help. She's a beautiful dog and I won't give up on her or her puppies which I'm taking care of myself now.

I am a shepherd lover and I have a male who just turned a year in March and a year and a half old female German Shorthaired Pointer. They both are getting thier cgc's very soon. Enjoy this summer with your dogs.

Comments: First, Rachael, you are welcome. Second, I do my best not to assume. I do, however, try to cover all the possibilities. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I *did* recognize that it may have been an accidental litter. As for stepping off my "high horse", the info on this site is what I have learned after much research. I'm sorry that I come off as stuck-up to you. That was certainly not my intention. I have come to be very blunt on this subject and I do not like to sugar-coat. People often misinterpret that as being rude. I'm also sorry that I come off as close-minded, as I do my best to have an open mind. I always listen to other's opinions, but I decide for myself when it comes to what I believe. If someone tells me something, I feel it best to read up on it before I decide to believe it. I encourage my readers to the same. My intention with this website was to introduce my readers to the world of responsible breeding, not to give a do-it-yourself instruction manual. I want to encourage people to thoroughly research breeding before ever getting involved in it. I do not want to encourage just reading one website and breeding based off the information therein. I've never held a grudge against anyone for being what I consider a bad breeder. I have relatives whose breeding practices I do not endorse, yet I am just as friendly to them as I would be to the world's best breeder. Don't worry about saying this to me, as I do not get offended easily and listen to all opinions. After all, if all I got was positive feedback, I'd never learn which areas I should improve upon.

Comments: Thank you for taking the time to answer my question on Dogster. However, you really jumped the gun reguarding my brief statement"this is my 1st time." I'm not going to "explain" myself to you, but it is so very annoying and disrespectful when people make assumptions. So I won't allow myself to draw any conclusions about you, or what you do. My question was brief, and there is so much more to my story than what you were so quick to assume. Again, thank you for you time, but you didn't answer my question or tell me anything I did not already know.As for your website..I think you should step down off of your high horse, try not to be so closeminded and presumptuous. I'm honestly not being disrepectful.I can appretiate your loyalty and dedication. its just that, after reading you answer to my question and your website, I felt offended. You seem very stuck up, close minded and the website is not that imformative nor do you make it interesting. I don't mean to insult you and I'm not being mean, just honest. plus it's only my opinion right? And based on how you addressed me, to you I'm just some selfish, uneducated human destroying a beautiful breed.

Comments: Gray answered a question on the internet for me (or tried to)and so I checked out page. I can't believe I purchased a dog, but if you had seen the conditions...but she was loved, lived in the house and the people played with all the puppies. She had had no shots nor had she been wormed. She was eating dry puppy food at 5 months and believe it or not she didn't even have worms (my vet wormed her anyway and she had her first shots the day after I got her.) She has my two other dogs to play with. The first week was rough, but my 60 lb rescue chow/shepard mix has been playing with her for the past two days. She learned how to use the doggie door in two days. We have lap time and she has doggie time. I've introduced her to the outside cats and as many people as I can. I'd like for her to end up being a therapy dog for the nursing home when she grows up,she's trained, settled and socialized. I am a good mother/master. She doesn't wake me in the morning (she sleeps in a large crate with bed in one in and pee pee pad in the other and she does fine. Shes out all day. I played with all the puppied before I picked her. She was the middle of the road one. Playful, attentive, active, loving to everyone. I've already bathed her and dried her with the hair dryer. Since she likes to chew, I rub a soft tooth brush along her teeth and gums (preparations for a lifetime. I touch everything everyday to get her used to it. I hope I'm doing everything correctly. I've been reading like crazy and I know the mistakes I've made with my other dogs. She will be spayed as soon as she is old enough, just as all my dogs have been.I lost my heart, a Yorkie named Baxter in August last year about 3 months after my husband died. He grieved himself to death. Getting Sassy is my first real step at moving forward with my life. My animals give me purpose and love and I give them love in return. They truly bring me great joy.

Comments: Believe what you want, Jessie. It's your right. Just as it's my right to believe what I want. I do have to tell you something though. As I say on this site, I'm studying to be a breeder. And all my studying is very strict on doing what's best for the breed. And that includes health testing. I do not wish to breed for money. Nor does any reputable breeder. Most of the "breeders" out there, sure, but not the reputable ones. The goal of a reputable breeder is to keep the breed healthy. How is that cruelty? No offense, but many of you shelter people seem to be brainwashed into thinking that all breeders are evil, greedy monsters who overbreed their dogs and treat them like dirt. Nothing could be further from the truth. Don't get me wrong, I support both shelters and rescues. I feel sorry for them and want to help them. At the same time, I want to help the dog breeds stay healthy by being a responsible breeder. Why did you mention German Shepherds specifically? It sounded as though you think that I will be breeding my Shepherd. Not in a million years! She's too old to be bred, she was never genetically health tested, she doesn't fit the standard well enough, and her temperament is too soft for her breed. And I won't be breeding GSDs anyways. Anyway, thanks for the feedback.

Comments: Needs more work here. Many of your supposed questions about what people ask are so far off. Once you actually become a breeder and know more about the topic, I suggest you be very careful who you think you are trying to educate. I am a breeder and have champion dogs, you are forgetting to add the important questions to ask a breeder. That should be your first step in educating people. Good luck

Comments: I enjoyed your site very much. I really think there should be more responsible breeders out there. I am glad you are helping out in the way of making this site. All my dogs are purebred, except one. They were rescued, because I didnt need a breeder quality one. But I do highly support reputable breeders. There is one thing I would like to point out, though. There are lots of quality breeders out there with their own website, displaying bloodlines and pictures, and informing people of their next litters. Some even only sell locally. I dont think all people who sell on the internet are bad. People on Craiglist and Kijiji are though.

Comments: We got our last GS from an AKC breeder. She is beautiful. But we are having serious problems with her. we think she was abused by her breeder and his sons. They are BYB. We think they used shock collars on the puppies. And beat them. I feel we rescued her from an abusive breeder. But we will be careful where we get any other puppies. We have a 10 yr old GS that we rescued from a Circle-K convenience store. She is a purebred. She was abondoned at the store when she was a very young puppy. We didn't get them to breed. They have both been spayed. They are our fur kids.
